Gosh, that title sounds so pretentious, doesn’t it? I mean, who am I to declare it the year of me. What have I done that’s so important that I should take a year just for myself when much when there are other individuals who’ve accomplished so much more?
The thing is, I tend to be someone who didn’t prioritize herself enough. So many times, I would think that I’m some kind of superwoman who didn’t need help, and would rarely ask for it. I would take on too many things at once, run myself thin and dry, and really not accomplish much in the end. I also tended to
Well, no more. This year, I plan on being nicer to me, myself, and I.
So, what are some things that I’ll be prioritizing this year:
Shop The Outfit
As someone who isn’t satisfied if I’m not “working” (hence, this project of a blog, haha), I need to set boundaries on being able to Netflix and chill, and not feel guilty that I don’t have a laptop in front of me. I need to be able to set time to do the things that I enjoy in life, like reading or (the attempt of) gardening, without trying to see if maybe there’s house chores that should be finished first. It’ll be hard, but hopefully, it’ll be less of a stressor.
Hitting the Gym
Similarly, going to the gym and catching that morning yoga class can be a bit of a guilty pleasure, one that takes a backseat to sitting in front of the computer, toiling away. Considering my family’s awful health history, my own health needs to be a huge priority.
It can be so much easier to churn the same successful formula than try to think outside the box. I mean, there’s a reason why sitcoms are so popular, right? It takes time to be creative, to come up with better ideas, and to plan and execute properly. I want to do that with this blog, especially in the photography aspect of it all to you guys.
As a married woman whose finances are combined with my husband’s, I can sometimes feel guilty when I spend our money for myself. Should I really spend that much on luxurious skincare when I can buy something from the drug store? Do I really need more shoes (as if that’s even a question)? I don’t like constantly feeling guilty for the things that I want, so starting this year, I plan on working our finances just a little so that I can have those guilt-free spendings without thinking how it could affect our overall combined budget.
What will you do for yourself this year?
