Palm Springs For a Day

When I lived in LA, one of the places we’d love to go for weekend getaways was Palm Springs, even in the heat of summer when you can literally see heatwaves rising from the asphalt. It’s strange, but after being out in the heat when it’s in triple digits for five minutes, I would get assimilated to the weather and almost forget about it. It also helps to stay shaded or indoors during the day and just emerge later on in the day, haha.

But Palm Springs can be such a magical place. You’re in the dessert with nothing else surrounding you but small mountains, palm trees, succulents, and mid-century homes (a favorite of mine). It’s a quiet town with not much to do except golf and swim, but if your idea of a great mini-vacation is to do nothing but be poolside with a good book, this may just be perfect. Many of the hotels, like the Saguaro Hotel that we stayed at, offers free rentals of bikes, which has become one of my favorite activities to do to explore the residential streets and just see the different homes in the neighborhoods.

Target Dress

Just outside of Palm Springs are a few attractions: Joshua Tree National Park (I highly recommend at least driving through this park), Salton Sea (this place used to be more popular than Yosemite back in the 50’s), and Cabazon Outlets / Dessert Hills Premium Outlets (they have everything from high end designers like Burberry and Gucci to homeware like Le Creuset. Definitely worth a visit).

SHOP THE DRESS

By the way, is it just me or is Target really killing the fashion game right now? Every time I wander into Target looking for a necessity item like kitchen sponges, I have to wander into their apparel section to see what they’ve got, and so many times, end up wandering with armful of clothes to their fitting room and giving them a try. So many things just look so good on the hanger!

Unfortunately, nine times out of ten, the fitting ends up not working to my liking, and most of the times, it’s because the armhole is just too big for me that I’d be putting my bra on show, and not in an alluring way. But I took the plunge with this particular blue dress from Who What Wear, and although the armhole is bigger than I’d prefer, the fit of the dress overall won me over.

Have you been to Palm Springs? What are your thoughts about the city?

I went to Palm Springs a few years ago and loved it! It’s such a beautiful place to visit and relax. I love all the photos you took and your dress! Target’s clothing has improved so much recently.
