If you ask my husband about my shoe collection, he’d say, with just four in his closet, that I had way more than necessary. In truth, I have less than fifteen pairs. In women’s term, that’s hardly anything, wouldn’t you agree? In that small collection, I have shoes that ranges from cheap Payless shoes all the way to pricey Valentino shoes.
And yet, the shoes I gravitated towards more and more are Sam Edelman’s. If you’re not familiar with the brand, they are a mid-range fashion company specializing in shoes, and are on display in department stores like Nordstrom alongside high end designers.
There are a lot of shoe brand out there. Why go with Sam Edelman?
Sam Edelman is a contemporary brand and they always have shoes that are on-trend. They cater to the fashionable folks. You will see the Gucci-inspired loafers, the jacquard-printed booties, and the Chloe-inspired scalloped slippers, amongst their sea of shoes.
My first ever designer shoes are the scalloped Chloe flats in blush pink. It’s such a beautiful piece of art and is so comfortable to wear. But wearing it gives me anxiety. So far, I’ve only worn it a handful of times, being as delicate as I can with them – watching for rocks, lifting my feet higher to avoid scraping cement – and already, there are scratches that are making the leather peel.
However, a few months ago, I purchased a simple black flats from Sam Edelman that I now wear practically every day, running in them, dragging them through dirt, and honestly being reckless with them, and not a single scratch. I kid you not. And once these shoes are worn to bits (I don’t see that happening anytime soon), guess what will replace them. Yup, the same ones.
Considering how much we stand on our feet, I would think that the most important quality in a shoe is its comfortability, and Sam Edelman shoes provide that. I talked about my simple black ballet flats earlier. The leather is super soft and oh-so-comfortable. I didn’t even have to break them in! In comparison, my Chanel loafers gave my ankle blisters for a days after wearing them!
In addition, I believe the majority, if not all, of Sam Edelman’s shoes have padding so your feet will always have cushion to walk on. I love that so much. Like, why high-end designer shoes don’t provide this, considering their exorbitant price, I know not.
In the end, it comes down to value, and for all that their shoes have to offer – trendiness, quality, and comfortability – Sam Edelman’s shoes are a major value for their price, especially when on sale (these happen often). If you haven’t given them a chance yet, I highly recommend them!
