Prior to this cruise, I’ve only ever visited Mexico in the realm of Cancun and Los Cabos. But in the middle of our trip to New Orleans, we went on a week-long cruise with Norwegian to explore a few stops along the Western Caribbean. One of the stop was the port of Roatàn, Honduras. The port itself, full of shops and restaurants, is fairly small, so Joseph and I opted to venture out. We booked a tour that ended up taking us to a chocolate factory as well as going to an eco walk through a preserved forest.
SIDE NOTE: my husband, Joseph, is a travel agent at Ticket for Adventure and would be more than happy to help you on your own travels!
As I mentioned, part of our tour involved visiting a small chocolate factory, so we hopped on a bus and rode down windy main streets until we reached a beach filled with little stores. The chocolate factory situated itself amongst the stores, with a little cafe as its storefront and its factory on the second level. Interesting fact – Honduras has been awarded with having some of the best organic chocolate in the world! Clearly, we had to get some.
Once done with the chocolate tour, our next stop was a forest ecological walk by using multiple suspended bridges. There were so many bridges, I lost count, haha. It was here that I also got a taste of my very first termites (yes, the bugs that eat the wood in your house!) that we found in a tree. Was it good, or was it bad?! You’ll have to find out in my Honduras vlog that is coming up! *wink wink*
I wore this adorable white dress with a plunging V neck from Forever 21 that just screamed beach vacation. The dress is embroidered with a bunch of little white flowers and a little bit of a ruffled detail in the sleeves. I paired with my favorite hat – a straw boater hat from Target that fits my head perfectly – and a new cat-eye sunglasses from Target as well. Seriously, Target’s fashion game has been so on point these days!
SHOP THE STYLE
You’ll be constantly seeing this purse throughout my trip because, even though I brought three other bags with me, the colors of this particular one just went with everything! I picked this up at Cozumel, Mexico (though I’m sure you can find it all over Mexico) and it’s a brown leather bag stamped with the Mayan calendar. I love picking up little local fashion things like this to add to my wardrobe. And with my trusty YSL denim espadrille (which you will also see a lot of) I was good to go to explore!
After the chocolate tour, they gave us some time to wander around the beach and unfortunately neither of us brought any sunscreen or bathing suits! But if you’re a fan of diving or snorkeling, the beaches of Roatàn is supposed to be one of the best. In fact, they have the second largest barrier reef, next to Australia.
Just a reminder that I am hosting a MONTHLY GIVEAWAY for my lovely readers. For the month of March, I will be giving away a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick of your choosing so be sure to enter!
